haven't birded ohio for a week so i
ventured to headlands in the heat today -
in order of numbers -
#1 insects
#2 beach using people
#3 birds
on the way i saw a Bald Eagle above the RT 44
nest @ 6:33
arrived @ P-1 @ 6:40 left @ 7:45
89* and the lake looks like glass!!
Commoners -
Red-winged Blackbirds - 15ish
Song Sparrows - 5ish
American Robins - 20+
Common Grackles - 8ish
Northern Flicker - 2
Catbirds - 10+
Northern Rough-winged Swallows - 12+
A Little More Interesting
Willow Fly Catcher - 2+
Warbling Vireo - 3+
American Coot - 1
Baltimore Oriole - 6+
House Wren - 3+
Wood Thrush - 3+
Yellow Warbler - 6+ (hard to see, easier to hear)
American Redstart - 4+ (hard to see, easier to hear)
Eastern Towhee - 2+ (heard)
MIDGES, MIDGES, MIDGES!!!!
wear your sunglasses and keep those mouths shut!!
