The Red-breasted nuthatch returned this morning. (Probably happy I filled
the feeder). I decided to bird my own property rather than spend gas money
on a trip somewhere to bird today. Boy was it worth it! I picked up 5 new
yard birds and 48 species. Northern parula, Pine warbler, Magnolia warbler,
Bay-breasted warbler, Swamp sparrow, and Green heron were highlights or new.
I had close looks at Belted kingfisher (my favorite bird), Eastern kingbird,
Blue-gray gnatcatcher (landed on the tree stand I was using for a blind and
perch), and Yellow-rumped warbler. Happy Mother's Day all you mothers!
