Greetings all -
A fantastic day on the Magee Marsh boardwalk (complete update to follow this evening) with over 25 species of warblers recorded, plus additional highlights of Swainson's and Gray-cheeked Thrushes, Veery, Least and Great Crested Flycatchers, and a mix of late "wintry" species: Dark-eyed Junco, Red-breasted Nuthatch, and Pine Siskin. Species diversity was good. Thursday and Friday's forecast (Friday in particular) looks brilliant. BE ON THE BOARDWALK on Friday.
A single BELL'S VIREO was heard briefly singing four times from marker 5 on the boardwalk. This is very near the main west entrance to the boardwalk, and east of the "tower" on the boardwalk by several hundred feet. The vireo was singing from a deep scrub area near the base of a string of large willows and Bald Cypresses, in an open clearing.
Additionally, the TRICOLORED HERON is still present at Metzger Marsh, observed from both the first and second pulloffs.
Best of birding - Jen
