I got to Conneaut this afternoon around 12:00 and was immediately shown the
piping plover by Robert Krajeski and Mark Vass. The bird stayed near the
east end of the shorebird pond on the mudflat for a little bit then flew to
the west. It was relocated by Mark Vass along one of the grassy wetlands on
the western half of the mudflat. It remained here until someone came to saw
up some of the driftwood. It flew back to its original location before
taking off again. We were unable to relocate it after that. It was last
seen around 1:00-1:15. There is a lot of habitat there so it may still be
around. A photo of the plover can be found at:

Also present at Conneaut were black-bellied plover (1), semiplamated plover
(2), PIPING PLOVER (1), Killdeer (3), greater yellowlegs (1), lesser
yellowlegs (2), solitary sandpiper (2), and dunlin (8-9). Also found were 1
blue-winged teal, 7 great egrets, 2 black-crowned night-herons, 6 bald
eagles, 1 great black-backed gull, numerous herring, ring-billed, and
Bonaparte's gulls, 6 Caspian tern and 1 Common tern. The breeding plumaged
Lapland longspur departed soon after I arrived.
