Greetings from the Heart of the Black Swamp,

My apologies for the late post.

If our warbler bonanza is any indication, then the next few days should show big improvement at Magee and other parts north of us. Scott Myers and I spent three hours at the Black Swamp Nature Center on the south edge of Paulding, Ohio and came away with a very impressive TWENTY species, a great total for this late in the season! Best of the lot were co-operative Prothonotary, Kentucky and Mourning Warblers. All of the rest were our more common species, including dozens of Am. Redstarts and Magnolias. As elsewhere, there were few Yellow-rumped and Palms. It was a wonderful session for a great little wildlife area that is quite underused by birders.

Bird well and prosper,
Doug & Micki Dunakin
