A few hours along the Westerville Alum Creek bikepath and in nearby Sharon Woods MetroPark found migration starting to sputter and wind down here. Not only were resident warblers, flycatchers, and vireos much in evidence, but migrants were increasingly scarcer than in prior days. Traps along Lake Erie may still collect good assemblages of late migrants, but much of the show is over here in central Ohio. Notables today included:

Flycatchers - Pewees, Acadians, & Cresteds all numerous (2-5) at both the bikepath and SW

Vireos - Warblings were along Alum Creek (2-3), while Red-eyed were abundant at both locations (10+ at each)

Thrushes - 2 Swainson's were lurking along Alum Creek, while singing Wood Thrushes were on territory along the Spring Creek trail in SW

Mimids - Catbirds were abundant at both locations, and each also had 1 singing Brown Thrasher.

Warblers - residents or late migrants included Yellow (3+), Parula (2 at ACT, 1 at SW), Magnolia (5 at ACT, 1 at SW), Chesnut-sided (4 total), Yellow-throated (3 at ACT, 1 at SW), Bay-breasted (2 at SW), Redstart (4 at ACT), Com.Yellowthr. (3, 2)

Tanagers - single Scarlets at each site

Buntings - LOTS of Indigo buntings, but no grosbeaks

Orioles - 4-5 Baltimores at each site, including nest-building pairs. A single Orchard was singing in the meadow at SW.
