The common merganser that I first found at Woods Road wetlands on May 22 is still there. I believe it is a female common merganser, although I couldn't see a white throat. It was across the front pond and even with a spotting scope was far enough that I had some problem seeing it well.

At Woods Road there were also

Wood duck with 3 ducklings
1 spotted sandpiper
1 dickcissel

I also did atlasing in the NW part of Darke County today and even with the heat and wind had

wood thrushes
kingbirds
warbling vireos
yellow warblers and common yellowthroats
B. orioles
Acadian flycatcher
pewee
great crested flycatcher
house wren
and other common birds.
