I helped at Girl Scout Day Camp this week at Camp Crowell-Hilaka in Richfield all week. Among the birds we saw and heard were Eastern towhee, Eastern wood peewee, scarlet tanager, wood thrush, black-capped chickadee, Baltimore oriole, and chipping sparrow. What a shame it would be if this prime bird habitat were sold to developers, as is possible since the board of the North East Ohio Girl Scout Council has voted to close the camp in December and put it up for sale. 347 acres on the East Branch of the Rocky River... stay tuned.
