My wife Deena and I decided to talk a walk this evening, so we headed
to the wetlands at Glacier Ridge. A few seconds after getting out of
the car (around 7:45pm) I heard what sounded like a King/Clapper rail
"kek"ing it's head off from the cattails between the observation tower
and the small building near the parking lot.

We eventually had great looks at the bird from the tower and later
from the ground, confirming the ID as King Rail. We resumed our walk,
and when we returned to the parking lot around 9pm it was back behind
the small building "kek"ing away like it owned the place. Hopefully
it sticks around!

If you go looking for the bird, PLEASE be patient and avoid excessive
use of playbacks. It would be most unfortunate if this bird got the
impression that it had a bunch of bigger and badder neighbors, and
decided to move along to the next marsh.

Good birding,
Paul
