This is a new park, with a variety of habitats. A prairie area has been planted, and is in the early stages of development. The East-Central Audubon chapter co-hosted a bird walk this morning with park staff. Seen were the following:

Here's the list. I've tried to annotate it to some extent.

green heron
ring-necked pheasant - heard only, known to nest here
rock pigeon
mourning dove
yellow-billed cuckoo
ruby-throated hummingbird
red-bellied woodpecker
pileated woodpecker
western-wood-pewee
Acadian flycatcher
willow flycatcher
eastern phoebe
tree swallow
barn swallow
cedar waxwing
house wren
gray catbird - carrying food for young
northern mockingbird - probable, heard only
brown thrasher - probable, heard only
eastern bluebird
wood thrush
American robin
tufted titmouse
white-breasted nuthatch
blue jay
American crow
European starling
white-eyed vireo - two heard
red-eyed vireo
house finch
American goldfinch
yellow warbler
common yellowthroat
yellow-breasted chat
chipping sparrow
field sparrow
song sparrow
northern cardinal
indigo bunting
red-winged blackbird
common grackle
Baltimore oriole

Total: 42 species

I highly recommend this new park. Our walk did not include all the diverse habitats, nor the 25-foot waterfall. I want to return soon. I foresee a fantastic bird list for the combined areas of Honey Run Park.
