It's not every day that you find a marsh wren in Williams County, but today
was such a day. I found a male singing vigorously at Lake La Su An Wildlife
Area. The bird was found near the Area F parking area on SR 576, just south
of County Rd. S. There's a small pond next to the parking area and the bird
was found there. You could easily hear the wren from the parking lot, and I
was able to get close enough to actually see him. I couldn't find any
evidence of a female or a nest in the area. Just south of the parking lot,
there was a singing sedge wren, which you could also hear from the parking
area. While I was there, a pair of Sandhill Cranes - presumably the same
pair I saw in the area two weeks ago - flew over and landed in a nearby
field.

Another bird of interest at Lake La Su An was a white-eyed vireo, which is
an uncommon nester in the area.
