Just quick note- I just located this bird in the previous location. It sang twice from the tree at the intersection of kaser and lindsey. Got a good but brief look in the scope before it was chased away by a savannah sparrow. I will stay a while- hopefully it pops up again.

Good birding,

Steve Landes

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Cassin's Sparrow - Shelby County

Julie Karlson, Larry Jeanblanc, and I returned to Shelby County this evening

to look for the Cassin's Sparrow that Larry and Doug heard on Sunday. We

arrived at a little after 6:00 and it was fairly quiet. After a while we saw

a bird fly into a scrubby dead tree on the east side of Lindsey Road at the

end of Kaser Road. It appeared to be a Cassin's Sparrow. We remained until

just after 8:00 and saw the bird several times in that same tree. A Savannah

Sparrow also used that tree and sang often but the Cassin's Sparrow did not

sing while we were there. We listened to and watched Grasshopper and Vesper

Sparrows also. I have posted some pictures of the bird at

www.clarkcountyohioaudubon.org . I hope the pictures are good enough to

identify the bird.
