A male Ring-necked Duck, in what I believe to be immature, moulting to winter plumage; has been at a small pond since at least Monday August 15th. This guy is an interesting bird to challenge identification skills. A beautiful yellow eye is easily visible, plus the other Ring-necked Duck characteristics. The location is a pond on the Ohio River side of SR7, directly opposite Bells Run Road (C-46); 10.5 miles upstream from I-77 at Marietta along SR7, or 4.5 miles downstream from Newport along SR7. The visitor was still present at 1PM.
