After hearing that the water levels had dropped enough for some shorebird habitat to form, I went out to the new Darby wetlands at Batelle-Darby Metropark in SW Franklin county today. I was very limited on time, but was able to find some of the things that Bill and Brad found yesterday, and some different birds as well. Highlights included-

Greater Yellowlegs- 3
Lesser Yellowlegs- ~20
Spotted Sandpiper- 2
Pectoral Sandpiper- 2
Wilson's Phalarope- 1
Red-necked Phalarope- 2
Least Sandpiper- 2
Semipalmated Sandpiper- 8
White-rumped Sandpiper- 1
Short-billed Dowitcher- 1
Stilt Sandpiper- 2

I also checked out the southern ends of both Hoover and Alum creek reservoirs hoping for "hurricane birds", but only located a few Caspian terns among the Ring-bills. Hoover is still too high for any shorebird habitat at the north end.

Good Birding,

Steve Landes
