I stopped by Ladue this afternoon, and with the exception of one
greater yellowlegs and the abundant killeer, didn't find any shorebirds

But, there were fourteen entertaining Caspian Terns resting on a sandbar.
One immature bird was still being fed by an adult who brought rather large
fish, that the immature found hard to process. He dropped one fish three
times and each time the adult retrieved it and offered it again. The adult
also chased off any of the terns or gulls that showed an interest in the fish.
