The King Rail made an appearance between 8:30-9:00 pm tonight at Glacier
Ridge Metro Park on the northwest side of Columbus. It wove in and out of
the cattails but gave us great looks as it moved closer through the marsh
and under the boardwalk to come out on the other side. The light was getting
low and bad for taking pictures but when you're going for a life bird, great
looks come first! There were scads of Virginia Rails (maybe as many as a
dozen), a couple Soras, the Wilson's Snipe, Green Heron, Solitary Sandpiper
and lots of Killdeer. The water is significantly lower than when I was last
out there July 31st. So, if you're still wanting to see the King Rail, I
think this makes 3 nights in a row that it was seen so you might want to try
it Fri. night! Good luck! It's a beauty!
