We, along with Jeff Harvey, arrived at "The Sandspit" around 7:30AM. The rain had stopped. There was a nice variety of bird species, but only a few of each. Some of the highlights were: American Avocet 1, Sanderling 4, Semipalmated Plover 2, Semipalmated Sandpiper 4, Least Sandpiper 2, Lesser Yellowlegs 7, Bonaparte's Gull 2, Caspian Tern 8, Sora 1, Black-crowned Night-Heron 4, Ring-necked Pheasant 1 female (Conneaut Swamp Hen), Bald Eagle 7 juveniles & 1 adult, Eastern Kingbird 1, Green Heron 8+, Bank Swallows 50+, and Northern Shoveler 1 female. It is presently 10:55AM and everything is still here with about a dozen birders. Has anyone had anything exciting at Lorain Impoundment today? Bob and Denise Lane / Mahoning County
