Made a brief stop at Conneaut last evening. A small group of shorebirds
concentrated around the main pool.
The previously reported Avocet was still present along with a nice looking
Baird's Sandpiper (first one I've seen here this year). Also present: 8
Lesser Yellowlegs, 7 Semi Sandpipers, 6 Least Sandpipers, 1 Pectoral
Sandpiper, 3 Killdeer and 1 Semi Plover.
Unfortunately I didn't have much time for birding before the trucks and
dogs arrived en masse. Conditions went from good to bad to intolerable in
a span of about 15 minutes.
Those who have been to Conneaut before know exactly what I'm talking
about. For those who haven't been there before, it's a situation that
needs to be experienced first hand to fully appreciate (or not).
Despite the mayhem, all of the birds were still present when I left at
7:30pm.
