Midwest
Birding Symposium starts three weeks from today! MBS ’11 is September 15-18, in Lakeside, Ohio, hosted by Bird Watcher's Digest, The Ohio Ornithological Society, and Lakeside Association. Still time to register for “The World’s Friendliest Birding Event”.

But
September 1st is the deadline to submit a grant application for consideration
for funding from the MBS Conservation Fund. If you know of a worthy project or
organization, or are a representative of an organization, please send in a
grant request by Sept 1 (one-page form available on the link).

In 2009, Midwest Birding Symposium raised, and donated,
$10,000 for conservation causes, thanks to $5000 in matching funds from Ohio
Ornithological Society.
MBS '11 hopes to raise even more $ through a
conservation raffle featuring including an iPad with the Peterson Birds of
North America App from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Appweavers, Inc, several
binoculars from Nikon, Swarovski, Opticron, and Eagle Optics, plus a spotting
scope from Celestron: more items are being added to the conservation raffle as
we get closer to the event (and donations of prizes are still being accepted!).
OOS will match up to $10,000 toward this year’s MBS Conservation
Fund.
Tickets for the MBS Conservation Raffle are $5 for 1 ticket,
$10 for 3 tickets, or $20 for 10 tickets. You don’t need to be present to win.
Winners announced each night in Hoover Auditorium.
 Details on the MBS website!
