The East Central Ohio Audubon Society and the Knox County Park District hosted a bird hike on Saturday morning at Wolf Run Regional Park in Knox County. The skies were overcast which made it difficult to ID some of the birds because of lighting conditions. There were tons of Blue Jays, Nutchatches and Robins as well as Downy Woodpeckers and even a Red-bellied Woodpecker or two. Highlights of the day included a juvenile Black-billed Cuckoo, a Spotted Sandpiper, Pileated Woodpecker, Flicker and an amazing black cherry tree that was riddled with Yellow-bellied Sapsucker holes. All of us on the hike agreed that we had never seen a tree with so many spasucker holes in it.

Rich Niccum
President, East Central Ohio Audubon Society
