I was at Conneaut harbor this morning from 7:30 - 11:00 AM.  There was some decent movement of birds the first couple hours, with several species putting in their first appearance there this Fall.  Highlights were: 2 gadwalls, Am. wigeon, 15 blue-winged teal, 3 hooded mergansers, 5 common mergansers, 2 pied-billed grebes, black-crowned night-heron, 25 turkey vultures, osprey, 4 bald eagles, peregrine falcon, Am. golden-plover, 10 killdeer, Am. avocet (been there since August 9!), 2 greater yellowlegs, 5 lesser yellowlegs, semipalmated sandpiper, 5 pectoral sandpipers, buff-breasted sandpiper, 4 Bonaparte's gulls, great black-backed gull, 3 Caspian terns, belted kingfisher, Am. pipit, and c. yellowthroat.  On the way home I swung by Mosquito L/WA.  The water was still high there.  At the north end were: wood ducks, 15 Am. wigeon, 2 n. pintails, 2 blue-winged teal, 15 n. shovelers, hooded merganser, double-crested cormorant, great blue herons, 13
great egrets, greater yellowlegs, 5 barn swallows, gray catbird, 2 magnolia warblers, and c. yellowthroat.  A few chimney swifts were at Conneaut and Mosquito; a few are still around near home here in Mahoning Co. also, but the majority are gone.  Swallows are pretty much gone too now in far NE Ohio.  A black-throated green warbler was in my back yard yesterday.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
