The redbelly did me a favor several years ago One was attacking our attached
garage cedar siding. The noise was horrible. We took it as an alarm to inspect.
The heavily treed property always had large colonies of Carpenter ants. Sure
enough several boards were infested with ant nests. We tore out the old
cedar, replaced and painted. The old siding was burned. No  knocking since and a
secure wall on the garage. They don't do it for fun.
Sam
