Hi all,

Quite a showing this evening! While driving to the grocery store earlier
this evening, my wife and I passed the Waterman Farm (off Kenny Rd. west of
OSU campus) where we spotted a flock of 50-90 Common Nighthawks heading east
from Kenny Rd. north of Lane Ave. On our drive back from the store around
6:45, an even larger group (210+) was seen foraging over the park and
parking area south of Lane Ave. along Kenny. About 30 minutes later in the
area of Fishinger Ave. and Kenny, another 80+ were visible from my yard. I
never heard a single vocalization from any of them.

Also present in the air over my neighborhood were large numbers of medium to
large dragon flies -- I'm not sure if those were the nighthawks' food,
competitors or both.

Good birding,
Paul Hurtado
