Directions to what I believe to be Ohio's only drive-on beach (Ohio's Daytona Beach); are: From Interstate 90, take the SR7 exit and go north to the town of Conneaut, SR7 does a right and a left zigzag thru downtown. SR7 is the last exit in Ohio before entering Pennsylvania. Follow SR7 to its end at the top of the hill overlooking Lake Erie and the marina area. Turn left at the Moose Club and Bait Shop, go just past the Lakefront Motel and turn right down the hill bearing to the left at the wye. Continue to the end of the pavement and take the sand road bearing right. Follow to the bay continuing to the right to "The Conneaut Sandspit". Be patient, the birds are constantly coming and going. While visiting "The Sandspit" take time to observe the massive wind turbine in the harbor. It was recently struck by lightning and is now not operational. Scope the blade on the right, the lightning strike shattered it beyond repair! For a wonderful scenic drive when leaving "The Sandspit", take SR531 (Ohio's Coastal Highway), west thru Ashtabula Harbor, and on to Geneva-On-The-Lake. SR531 becomes SR534 south, follow it back to I-90. The views of Lake Erie while driving along the high bluff are breathtaking!
