Greetings all - the apparent Gray Flycatcher at Headlands has not been reliably reported/seen since Saturday afternoon, when it was viewed briefly by Jerry Talkington. Multiple Least, Willow, and Yellow-bellied Flycatchers were present today, giving overly-eager folks a run for their money. NO photos exist of this bird. Empids are incredibly tricky to properly identify, and ALL details must be noted from minute marks of plumage, size, bill shape, bill color, and behavior combined. Many empid species wag their tails, and in bright light, the outer tail feathers of flycatchers can appear white or pale from sunlight (transluscent). Behavior and all plumage marks, together, must be thoroughly noted in detail to properly ID any vagrant empid.

Today, mid-afternoon, Larry Richardson found an American Avocet at Lorain Impoundment. The second year Little gull at Lakeview Park in Lorain, found in the late morning by Gabe Leidy, was not refound throughout the afternoon but with the Bonaparte's Gull flock building to 300+ individuals, it may return to roost. Beach traffic (walkers) get the gull flock riled up by mid-morning.
