I almost found the Second Shepard's Play to come off as a
bit humorous. It starts off with a bunch of guys complaining about
their fat wives and "the man", among with other things. This is
closely related to many comedies on television today. Then, the climax
comes in with Mac stealing the sheep and hiding it as his new born
baby. This could easily be portrayed as a comical way to go about
concealing a farm animal. Then, the play ends with a message, or
learned lesson, as most family-style comedies do today. The baby Jesus
is born and the world is right.
