Donn does some really good work. I've used "Invisible Men" for my classes and for some of my research on the Negro Leagues.

I won't be able to attend the film presentation but I'm going to one of the classes to hear him speak. If you're interested in how African Americans created important institutions during (maybe, perhaps because of) periods of dejure and defacto segregation, I recommend Donn's talk. I can wait to get a chance to see the film on PBS.

The history of the African-American baseball leagues are a rich part of 20th century American culture that is virtually unknown to our students. "Invisible Men" contains historical footage of terrific athletes in some of their greatest games, as well as Donn's interviews with many then-elderly former players.
