Please join Columbus Audubon members and guests Tuesday Nov. 22 to hear
David Russell, Ph.D. Miami University Department of Zoology and Jill
Russell, Ph.D. an assistant professor in the College of Mt. St. Joseph's
Department of Biology for their program Birding the Ice Trucker Highway.

Have you seen the History Channel TV series about the "Ice Road Truckers?"
And have you seen the episodes featuring the Dalton Highway, also known as
the "Haul Road," that runs through the northernmost reaches of Alaska? In
the winter, the terrain seems to be a dark, frozen, and desolate wasteland.

In the summer, though, the highway comes alive with wildlife and especially
birds. Dave and Jill Russell have traveled the route several times. In
Tuesday night's program, they will tell us all about the wonders of northern
Alaska in their program entitled Birding the Ice Trucker Highway.

For the past two summers, Dave and Jill have taught at the University of
Alaska Fairbanks. In addition, this past summer they conducted research on
the growth and development of young Boreal Owls in Alaska. Dave and Jill are
passionate about their birding careers and they will share their work from
our 50th state from their research project and photographic documentation.

Tuesday night's Columbus Audubon Short Program features Earl Harrison,
co-chair for Columbus Audubon field trips. Earl will discuss Gull
identification and finding wintering gulls along the Cleveland Lakefront
area.
