I spent Saturday morning hitting a few spots in Highland County. The
Highland Stone Gravel Pits had some of the best finds. 8 Snow Geese (4
white morph and 4 blue) among the hundreds of Canadas. Also heard a a flock
of Sandhill Cranes bugling somewhere in the pits, but could never get a
view of them. Rocky Fork only had a few species of ducks. Grebes were
numerous. Paint Creek had huge flocks of Gulls, mostly Bonapartes, and a
handful of Dunlin. There were pretty good numbers of immature Cormorants at
both Rocky Fork and Paint Creek.
