The probable female Rufous Hummingbird that has been at our residence in Damascus since Thursday afternoon, was still present this morning at 8AM. On an interesting note; the immature male Rufous Hummingbird that Allen Chartier banded in Columbiana County on Wednesday November 2nd, was only seven miles to the southwest, by the way the crow flies, from our place. After reviewing our photos, Allen Chartier determined that our female is definitely a different indiviual than the Columbiana County bird, having quite a different pattern on the throat. Allen plans on banding our celebrity guest, providing it sticks around. These two visitors being so close together, along with the other present Ohio and nearby Pennsylvania sightings, make you wonder how many of these western visitors could be here and actually go undetected.
