I stopped at Hoover dam late this afternoon, hoping for an influx of gulls or waterfowl from the cold front, but had little of either. The same flocks of Ring-billed gulls & Bonapartes are around the southern end of the reservoir, and the only new waterfowl were a Bufflehead and 6 Hooded Mergansers below the dam. A flock of White-throated & Song Sparrows was foraging around the athletic field below the dam, but there were no other unexpected landbirds.

On my way back, I swung through Westerville and noted that the big Starling roost at Westerville Rd and I-270 is back. The birds stage around the interchange, flying up in impressive weaving flocks, before roosting in a tiny stand of pines right inside the southwest cloverleaf. There were perhaps 7-8,000 birds when I went by, but it's a little dangerous to watch as you drive through the interchange, so I'll try to find a decent observation point soon. If someone else has already figured out the best spot for viewing, please share it in a post.
