I went to Evans L. and Pine L. in eastern Mahoning Co. today to see what waterbirds were around.  The rain and poor light made it pretty difficult to scan the lakes, and a number of birds were left unidentified.  These 2 lakes are quite close to each other, so here's a combined list of birds tallied: Canada geese (many), 3 tundra swans, 4 gadwalls, mallards, 15 n. shovelers, 3 buffleheads, 85 hooded mergansers, 35 common mergansers, 50 ruddy ducks, 21 common loons, 8 pied-billed grebes, 13 horned grebes, 30 double-crested cormorants, 1 great blue heron, 110 Am. coots, ring-billed gulls (hundreds), 25+ herring gulls, and 1 belted kingfisher.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
