Just got a call from Troy Shively, who reported on the new (fourth)
Lima-area reservoir.  This one is next to Bresler Res, just west,
separated only by a road--surely through the only "canyon" in the area.
Doubtless this will provide a full-time job to a mower, though fighting
vegetation on the sides of upground reservoirs seems like a silly idea.

        The reservoir is only partly flooded now.  A vegetated island remains,
connected to one side by mudflats; deer are grazing there. Troy
estimated the eventual depth of the water at 70-80 feet. The whole res
is shaped like an "L." It is huge; Troy estimated it was larger than
Bresler, Wellington, etc.
        He reported the presence of some routine birds--mergansers, mallards,
maybe a surf scoter, but clearly this deep-water location will attract
migrant diving waterbirds in good numbers, and its shape may make
observation a bit easier than Bresler, where the birds always seem a
mile away no matter which side you look from.
        It's worth a look now, and should get better with time.
