I scoped out the Deer Creek Reservoir in Pickaway and Fayette Counties this afternoon. Joining the list of expected ducks for the date was a SURF SCOTER. Common Loons and Pied-billed and Horned Grebes were plentiful. Bonaparte's Gulls were the most abundant gull today with probably close to a thousand present. I didn't see and Franklin's Gulls today, but they could have easily been overlooked. A Common Tern remains at the state park beach. Somewhat unusual for the date there was a Great Egret joining the G-b Herons on the mudflats at the N end of the reservoir. In addition to the usual large number of Killdeers were ~20 Dunlins, several each of Pectoral and Lest Sandpipers and 1 Greater Yellowlegs.
