with the extra hour due to the changing of the
clock, i dedided to hit the Lake - start in Conneaut
and come back to Cleveland.

Conneasut @ 7:15 40*
Wooden Deck
American Coot - 20+
Canada Goose - 100+
Ring-billed Gull - 25+
Mallard - 20+

Sandspit @ 7:25 - 7:45
STRONG winds from SW
Boneparte Gull - 200+
Greater Black-bached Gull - 1 (BEAUTIFUL
        just sitting amongst Bonies)
Herring Gull - 10+
Ring-billed Gull - 20+
Common Tern - 2
Bald eagle (imm) - 1
Sanderling - flock of 10 + 15
Many hundreds of gulls rafting 100+ yards in the bay
on the way off the beach I saw a single Snow Bunting at the start
of the rock wall - getting out and getting a look then kicked up a flock
of 30-ish

on the way up the road i hit the wooden deck again 7:55
American Coot - 30+
Canada Goose - 75-ish
American Crows - 2
Great Blue Heron - 1
Black Crowned Night Heron - 1

driving back towards Cleve I saw an immature
Bald Eagle fying over I-90 at mile marker 238

9:00 Fairport Beach
only Ring-billed Gulls within bino range
anywhere off the beach - 100-ish
a few fly-by Mallards (6) and
2 Double Crested Cormorants

9:20 arrive at Headlands parking lot where
i ask Ray H what i may find there - he informs
me of the Sabine's @ Eastlake
 - who am i to question one of the Godfather's of
   Cleveland birding?
9:40 @ Eastlake where there is a "who's who" of
Cleveland birders' convention going on!!!
i know it's a good bird if Haans comes to see and didn't
have time to bring his binoculars!
ever hear of looking for a needle in a haystack?
try looking for a Sabine's Gull on a lake on a beautiful
sunny day when there are thousands of Bonies flying
everywhere! need a lesson in upper level birding?
watch Jerry, Ray, Emil JB and the rest of the community
of birders working every bird on the lake!!
boy do i have a lot of work to do!!
after about an hour Jerry locates it and the GREAT
people that are the birding community can't wait to share
their scopes so that all can have a GOOD look at this tiny
treat!! that is why birding is great! i have never come across
a more generous group of people in any other hobby in
which i have taken a part of.

11:00 to Sims Park in Euclid Henn Mansion pier
i run into Nancy and see her Scoters, Mergansers
and gulls

beautiflu day to be a birder!

buster
