Every year, about this time, a northern shrike shows up in my fields along
the power lines. I was watching the flocks of cedar waxwings and robins picking
fruit from the little apple trees when I saw the shrike, but this year, it is
an immature bird. A very weak, undeveloped mask, and a buffy cast to
the body. Watch for it at Frohring Meadows....the shrikes seem to move along
the power lines over to the park and back.

(Same for short eared owl, which has been here off and on over the last week.)
