Greetings! I have been quietly following the listserv since early summer,
and have enjoyed learning of everyone's great sightings and observations
around the state. It's great reading about all the activity along the Lake,
and in some of the more obvious hot-spots around the state (i.e. Columbus
and Cincinnati areas), but there are other parts of the state that we don't
hear from much. I live in southeast Ohio (near Athens), and find that I
know more birders who live in other parts of the state than I do in my own
neck of the woods.

I will be co-leading a bird walk this Saturday, November 12th, in Athens,
along the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, and it would be great if some other
birders from this part of the state could come! The Bikeway runs along the
Hocking River, and is one of the sites listed on the Hocking Valley Birding
Trail. While I'm sure it's at its best during breeding season, things
aren't too shabby in the winter, either. Of course birders from all around
Ohio are welcome, but I would especially like to reach out to birders in the
Athens area (Nelsonville, Logan, Albany, Pomeroy, etc.). The walk will be
from 9am - noon, starting at the West State Street ballfields in Athens
(mile marker 4 on the bikeway). We will meet at the picnic shelter that's
next to the ballfields. If you are interested and are in need of
directions, please let me know and I will provide. I realize this is short
notice, but it just dawned on me this afternoon that this might be a good
place to advertise the walk!

Thanks for your time, and good birding.
