I went up to Mosquito L/WA yesterday and had some pretty good luck with waterbirds.  Most of the action was at the State Park at the SW end of the lake.  Many geese and ducks were feeding in fields along Mahan-Denman Rd. also.  Raptors were nearly absent though.  Highlights were: snow goose (white morph), 20 Am. black ducks, 3 n. shovelers, 3 greater scaup, 25 lesser scaup, 40 buffleheads, 5 c. goldeneyes, 10 hooded mergansers, common merganser, 8 common loons, 3 pied-billed grebes, 6 horned grebes, bald eagle, red-tailed hawk, 18 Am. coots, 10 Bonaparte's gulls, ring-billed gulls, 20 herring gulls, belted kingfisher, and dark-eyed juncos.  Within a mile of my home in northern Poland Twp. (Mahoning Co.) yesterday, I saw a female n. harrier, red-shouldered hawk, and n. mockingbird.  Your local patch is always worth checking!  Good birding, Craig H
