Counted 171 Sandhill Cranes from 9:20-10am today in Hamer Twp, Highland County. I sat at the "Road Closed" sign at westbound Roush Rd and counted the birds in flocks of 20 to 40 as they flew east to west across Danville Rd. I followed one group south on Danville to a field at 3506 Sherry Rd, north of previous sightings at Danville and Watson Rds.

As well as the cranes, a lot of ducks and geese, and one Mute Swan, flew overhead from that direction. Exploring eastward on Mt Zion or Roush Rd might lead to a borrow pit or other source of open water where these birds spend the night.

DeLorme Ohio Atlas 7th edition page 76, grids C2-C3; GPS coordinates for Sherry Rd N39deg 10.422 min and W83deg 45.112 min; for Roush Rd N39 deg 11.305 min and W83 deg 44.065 min.
