Greetings from the heart of the ol' Black Swamp,

Micki called me around 2 p.m. this afternoon. On her way back home from town, she spied a large bird sitting in a tree on the opposite side of the Maumee River. It turned out to be an adult Golden Eagle. Well, of course she called me to come look at it, so I rushed around and within a minute was driving over to the spot of the sighting, which was less than a mile from our house! She met me at the end of our little road and explained that the bird had been flushed by the passing of an adult Bald Eagle!! We have had a pair of adult Bald Eagles in the area for some time now, and we think that the Bald was probably upset that the Golden had encroached on their happy hunting grounds! Alas, though, for me, it was just another one that got away!

Bird long and prosper,
Doug & Micki Dunakin
Antwerp, O.
