Hello All,

It was another great day to be out in the field. I started out at
Wellington Reservoir and noted Canvasbacks, REDHEADS, 3 Greater Scaup,
Ring-necked Ducks, Horned and Pied-billed Grebes, Am. Coots, Ruddys, Ring-
billed and Herring Gulls, and a small group of Canada Geese. I drove over
to Oberlin Reservoir and was surprised to see such a large group of gulls.
In my best aproximation there were 4500 Ring-bills and 1000 Herring Gulls
either packed in close in the water and many kettling high in the sky.
Scoping through the flock I didn't find any rarities nor did I find any
Bonaparte's mixed within the flock. There was still hours of daylight so I
decided to bug down to Funk Wildlife Area. The area hosted about 100
TUNDRA SWANS of which about 27 were juveniles. It was awesome to hear them
murmuring to each other on the water. An adult Bald Eagle flew over and
stirred up the ducks. Canada Geese, Ring-necked, Ruddys, Coots, Mallards,
Black Ducks, Song Sparrow, Am. Tree Sparrows, Downy Woodpeckers were
present. It was great to see some Eastern Bluebirds in the woods behind
the observation platform. Their color just popped in the drab treeline.
Just beautiful.

Best of birding to you.

Irene
