We are forced inside today getting ready for a family get together, but we
had some nice surprises. First, we had an adult Bald Eagle circle the house
and then perch in a large cottonwood. As we observed him, a Northern
Harrier flew by then doubled back to hunt our field with a mouse reward for
his efforts. Then about 30 minutes later a Kestrel showed off his hunting
stills using the house, telephone pole and bird houses as perches. And if
that wasn't cool enough, there was a spring or fall like kettle of 8-10
unidentified birds that disappeared off to the south but seemed like they
were raptors but were like gulls. Man, I wish I could ditch the family for
half a day and go birding!
Merry Christmas everyone and if anyone wants to participate in the Carey
Christmas count we will be conducting it on the 30th. We welcome the help.
