Hi birders,

I'm home from Massachusetts visiting my family
in the Fairborn area for the holidays. Every time
I come home, I drag my brother Greg out for some birding.
He can usually call up a good bird or two, and today was no
exception. We birded the Huffman Prairie Flying Field and
Eastwood Lake areas (along the edge of Wright-Patterson Air
Force Base, near the Montgomery/Greene county border). Our
highlights were a beautiful Merlin, putting on a good show,
and a totally unexpected yellow PALM WARBLER foraging the
edge of a sunlit field with a mixed-species flock of
Sparrows and Bluebirds.

My eBird checklist is here:

And pictures of a few of these birds, including
the resident pair of Bald Eagles at Eastwood Lake,
can be seen on my Flickr page:

For precise directions to any of these birds, or more
info, contact-me off list.

Great winter birding!
