Isaac Kerns, previouly from Akron, now North Carolina, found the BTGU on
the roof of one of the buildings. We had met earlier at Lake Shore Park
with no luck and had separated to search inland along the river. Just as I
was driving up to Lake shore Park, he stopped as he was coming to look for
me. Just as we got back to the pavillion, the BTGU flew east, showing the
long dark wings and black tail, but was hidden in the gull flock on the
beach. It flushed and circled back to the beach, and hid again in the
flock. When it flew again, it landed near the left end of the middle
island, where it remains as I write this a at about 1:00 pm. We both got
long distant shots in poor light and rain, bad conditions for photography.
The 4th try was the charm for me.
