It was good to back home in Ashtabula for Christmas, Richard, my son, and I took advantage of the opportunity. Today, we had the best looks at both the snowy owl and the black tail gull.
The owl was very visible from the parking lot east of the East Sixth (Cement) Bridge. The gull was flying along the shore at Lake Shore Park. The gull was flying along the break wall west of the pavilion. We were able to observe it within 20 yards. Very cool. Monday, the gull was visible west of the pavilion north of the break walls that are parallel to the beach. Also present on Monday were red breasted mergansers, bubble heads, and an immature eagle.
