Bill,

I found the January 3, 1995 plover on the Maumee River rapids at Sidecut Park in Maumee. As much as I would have liked it to be something different, I'm confident that it was indeed an American Golden Plover.

        Peterjohn gives dates of 3 Dec and 3 January for this species in Ohio.
Here in town we had one reported on 1 Dec 1949. Of course these could
easily have been misidentified, and it might be worthwhile to photograph
this bird, Rick, if you haven't already. Any extra yellowish color would
be very interesting at this time of year.
