Despite the bad weather I decided to head out to Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area.  I was hoping with a little bit of snow some of the "field birds" would be easier to find, which was the case.  Lapland Longspurs were the highlight of the day, and nearly every flock of Horned Larks had at least one in it.  Most were north of the wildlife area along CH-115, but a huge flock of 53 Laplands was on CH-68 east of the impoundments.  Another highlights was a single Long-eared Owl in the pine stand.  Other than this it was a slow day, and the high winds kept most birds in cover.  I swung down to Big Island briefly but didn't find anything noteworthy.

Good Birding!
