I found a bit of time to visit 2 places in this southern Columbus suburb this afternoon: the Groveport section of the Blacklick Creek bikepath (GBBP), and Walnut Woods Park. The bikepath still had some berries on honeysuckles, as well as neighboring house feeders, so it had fair numbers of expected winter birds. Walnut Woods had almost no berries and no nearby houses, so it was much less birdy, but did field some good birds. Notables included:

Red-tailed hawks - obvious displays at both the GBBP and Walnut Woods, including dueling pairs in the big field along Richardson Rd. They're certainly enjoying the mild weather.

Harrier - 1 was sectoring the big field along Richardson Rd in Walnut Woods

Coots - 10 were lurking in Cruiser Pond adjacent to the GBBP, continuing their appearance from the CBC (when several teams around here had them.)

Other Waterfowl - 0, with nothing else at Cruiser Pond and nothing in the ponds along Richardson Rd at Walnut Woods.

Brown Creepers - 2 were in the riparian woods along the GBBP, a regular spot for them in most winters

E.Towhee - they were missing from the GBBP, but one was along the bikepath at the Tall Pines area of Walnut Woods

Tree Sparrows - 3-4 were along the GBBP, but they were missing from the bikepath in the western section of Walnut Woods

Swamp Sparrow - 1 was at Cruiser Pond, where one has been since November

White-crowned Sparrows - 3 were along the Tall Pines bikepath at Walnut Woods, a hopeful sign for this increasingly rare sparrow around Columbus
