Thanks to prior reports, we were able to relocate the Short-eared Owls in
the Funk Bottoms Wildlife Area.

ARRIVE JUST BEFORE SUNSET:
From State Route 95, go south on Elyria Road (Blachleyville) to Wilderness
Road.
Turn Right on Wilderness Road, into the peet dredging area
Travel past the pond on the left, to one of the turn-offs on the right, and
 park
Search with bins or scope to the east/south, just above the ground, as they
 come out from roosting;

tonight, we saw 3-4 individuals trolling about 15-20 feet above the ground,
looking ESE toward the green storage tanks/cone-shaped dirt piles

Picked up 8 new species for the Wayne County "Big Year" List -- currently
at 55

-- Carolina Wren
-- American Black Duck
-- Pileated Woodpecker
-- Hooded Merganser
-- Bufflehead
-- Northern Harrier
-- White-crowned Sparrow
-- Short-eared Owl
