I have seen a Cooper's hawk try unsuccessfully for a gray squirrel. It was
even on the ground looking up at it trying to devise a plan after missing
the first shot. It made a couple of arial passes but the squirrel wasn't
giving up its advantage. Squirrels 2 Cooper's hawk 0. I think if a critter
is hungry enough anything is worth a try. All that family style food at the
Italian restaurant sounded like a good idea to me last weekend until
afterward.
